Phil Gutmann has been fishing and enjoying the outdoors most of his life. He credits his passion for fishing to his late grandfather. Phil’s main focus in the fishing world since 1986 has been the “elusive king of freshwater”; the muskie. To date, he has registered some 400 muskies through his membership with the Fox River Valley Chapter of Muskies, Inc. Dieter Cardwell spent eleven years in the U.S. Navy and received the Qualified Underway Officer of the Deck status. While in the Navy, he received numerous commendations for exceptional service. After the Navy, Dieter attended college and graduated with degrees in Science, Education, and Business. He has over 30 years of King Mackerel Tournament fishing with numerous 1st place and top ten finishes. Harry Crump’s family fishing team is comprised of a father, sons and nephew. With the team’s busy schedule, it is hard for them to coordinate time off, but they manage to get it done. The competition is fierce on the SKA kingfish trail, but the competition and fellowship is well worth the effort. They are one of the lucky teams to have several great sponsors. Team Reelin captained by Marc Pincus of Hilton Head Island, S.C., caught a kingfish weighing 28 pounds, four ounces Sunday to win $40,000 in the Wal-Mart FLW Kingfish Tour event presented by Raymarine in Atlantic Beach with a two day total of two king mackerel weighing 64-6.

Teams fished under mostly sunny skies, but heavy winds brought 6- to 8-foot seas. Fortunately, Pincus chose a plan that spared his team an offshore beating. “It was pretty nasty out there, but we fished on the beach so we had a little protection.” Read more…
